HCWH Europe is recruiting a Communication Intern January - March 2013
Brussels — Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) is an international network with 484 organisations in 53 countries. We work closely around the world with health professionals, hospitals, healthcare systems, NGOs, local government, ministries of health and international organisations. HCWH Europe is active in 23 countries of the WHO Euro region and has 68 European members. Our European office is in Brussels.
Main tasks
- Research, update and write content for the HCWH Europe new website to be launched in Spring 2013
- Compile two electronic newsletters (published every second months)
- Manage contact database for members and mailing list and email requests send to the office with support others
- Carry out other duties that may reasonably be required in the light of the main purpose of the job.
Educational/professional qualifications
- Graduate - bachelor degree
- Working knowledge of EU institutions and processes
- Experience or interest in environmental health policy
- Previous experience on communication and some journalism or online communication training would be an asset
Skills and abilities
- Native English speaker preferred, plus very good written and verbal skills; additionally French, Spanish or any other European language would be an asset
- Good working knowledge of standard office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); experience in website editing and/or writing on-line articles, blogs, and/or be familiar with online social communities would be an additional asset
- Enthusiastic and flexible personality with a sense of initiative and flexibility in undertaking a workload within tight deadlines
- Ability to generate ideas
- Ability to proofread with strong attention to details
- Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously
Conditions
- Duration of 3 months, starting date: 14 January or sooner (This is an unpaid position, that could lead to a employed position thereafter)
