All about sound management of medical waste

Bangalore, India - An effective strategy to rid our surroundings of harmful pollutants is the need of the hour. With this in mind, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB), ministry of environment and forests and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) launched 'environmentally sound management of medical waste in India' here on Monday.

The project is for five years in the states of Karnataka, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Orissa and Punjab. It aims to reduce and ultimately eliminate release of unintentionally produced persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and other pollutants into the environment.
